Our medical ministry has four components: two medical clinics, Wilson's Feeding Program, Village Health Workers Program and Community Outreach Clinics. Learn more the life changing work this ministry is doing below.
Our medical ministry began in 2009 with our clinic in Kakambo, Uganda when we discovered that they had no medicine in the clinic. Seeing the desperate need for help, we began aiding in getting them up and running. They now have a full-time physician, Dr. Remy, a nurse/mid-wife and support staff. They deliver children, have a pharmacy and a functioning lab. Due to the remote location of this clinic, they depend on UTOLM support for its sustenance.
The New Life Clinic in Idudi, Uganda was founded in 2016 and by the grace of God is fully self-sustaining. This is the only clinic in the area that can give the village the kind of sterile, affordable and trustworthy medical attention they need. There is an exam room, laboratory, pharmacy and patient rooms. The government of Uganda provides all immunizations which the clinic administers and by support of the community and Child First Meds, children through the age of 13 receive the necessary medical care.
Wilson Gowa is the Pastor of a local church in Kakambo where our clinic is and oversees Wilson's Feeding Program. This incredible program identifies and treats children diagnosed with malnutrition. They have over 30 children in the program that they are restoring to health. Once a child is admitted into the program, they receive identification, medical treatment for any diseases they have, food supplements (type of food depends on age), milk and eggs. They also receive weekly visits from a caregiver from the program, counseling on nutrition, farming techniques and seeds to plant from Seed Programs International. This program has saved the lives of countless children over the years and is the most radical in terms of physical healing. The shape that the babies are in when found by Wilson are on the verge of death and by the grace of God and this program, they are saved. In 2010, we received funding from Child First Meds and the Village Health Workers Program was born. This program gives local community members the supplies and knowledge to identify and treat top diseases in children up to age 13. Every volunteer receives a bicycle, ledger, medicine, a manual and training on how to identify these illnesses. Our vice president, Vicky trained 15 lay people (pictures above) to go into the most remote parts of Uganda to help children with no access to medical care. Last year alone, they treated over 25,000 children!
Our community outreach clinics are twice a year in remote areas and bring help to those who do not have the access or means to receive health care. They treat illnesses, perform routine check-ups and refer children to Wilson's Feeding Program. Last year in an area that was receiving one of our water wells, the clinic saw 778 people who were given medical attention that they were unable to previously receive. This program has served countless communities and has left a profound impact on the people of Uganda.
